The domain lock prevents your domain from being transferred. This is a security feature intended to help protect your domain from hijackers. If you want to transfer your domain out to another registrar, you must unlock it. By default, domains registered with Register.ca are automatically locked. To activate or deactivate the domain lock, complete the following steps.
If you unlock your domain, but do not complete a domain transfer, we strongly recommend re-locking your domain name to keep it safe.
This process modifies the clientLock. You may encounter errors that refer to a serverLock; this message refers to a lock placed on the domain by the registry following the initial registration of the domain or the transfer of the domain to another registrar. This lock will remain enabled for 60 days following one of these events.
