Authorization (EPP) key is a security code required by the registry for domain transfer and is unique to every domain name.
Note: Transferring your domain to another registrar is different from changing your nameservers, or "transferring your domain to your hosting company." Please see DNS info for assistance with updating your DNS records.
If you are transferring your domain away, you should also unlock the domain. Once you have removed the registrar lock and/or obtained the EPP/authorization key for transfer, you will need to submit the transfer order through your NEW registrar. No further action is required by us to transfer the domain away.
For any non-dot-ca domain name, you will need to deactivate the Whois privacy prior to requesting the authorization code. The Whois privacy system for non-dot-ca domains masks the administrative contact email on a public Whois search, which is the data our system uses to parse the destination of the authorization code. You will need to keep the Whois privacy deactivated through the course of the transfer.
